Because I like to include pictures of what I make and share on the blog there is a new saying in our home: "Do it for the blog"
So this recipe is highly requested from my family. Please thank them for their sacrifice as they eat this. As Smokin says, "We support you honey. We will do whatever it takes to support the blog." What troopers huh? š¬
I'm not sure when I first found this Alfredo recipe, but like most every recipe I make I've tweaked it a bit to suit our family. Every time I make it the hugs, love, and smiles from my family are HUGE!
It's very simple and very delicious; two of my favorite things about a recipe. It's not the least bit healthy but it's ok to splurge once in a while. I beg of you, don't try to make it healthier. Life is too short to not live it up once in a while. š
1/2 stick butter
4 oz block of cream cheese
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 cup grated Parmesan (MUST be the green can kind. Trust me, this makes a difference.)
4 cups Half and Half (don't go lower than whole milk.)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
- In a pot melt the butter and cream cheese over low heat. Use a whisk combine the two.
- Add garlic powder and pepper
- Whisk in half and half and cream and turn heat up just a bit to med/low heat. Whisking often
- Once it starts to simmer add the Parmesan
- Whisk till cheese has melted.
- Taste to see if a pinch of salt is needed.
At this point you would add any steamed or blanched veggies to the sauce you like. Also, you can add any cooked meat i.e. the baked shredded chicken breast you made while meal prepping.
We like chicken and broccoli or asparagus. SautƩed mushrooms are always delicious. Use your imagination.
Ladle the sauce over the pasta of your choice.
Like I said, this is a rich sauce and very indulgent! It is worth every delicious calorie.
Enjoy your week!
