A.M. Routine

Last week I shared my PM routine. Like I said in that blog post, a good PM routine sets you up for a great morning. Today I'm adding A good AM routine sets you up for a productive day.

How you set your intentions and thoughts for your day starts before you even get out of bed.

  • I need to wake up before my family so I set an alarm for the same time each weekday and an hour later on weekends.
  • I always start my day making a conscious effort to have gratitude for my life. I thank God for 3 things I consider blessings in my life. I should say 3 things beyond Smokin hot hubby, our children, and our grandson. Before my feet hit the floor I say my gratitude list. This sets my mind on what's right with my life instead of what's wrong.
  • After gratitude I focus on COFFEE!! In order for my family to be blessed by me I need my coffee. (Can I get an amen from my non-morning coffee drinkers? 😉)

  • Quiet time is next even if it's just a few minutes. I need my quiet time to center myself and focus on something greater than myself. For me, that's time in the Bible and prayer. For some it may be journal writing or just being still. Whatever it is, quiet time is key to focusing and centering your day.

    Love my Erin Condren planner

  • Next, I look at my planner and my 'To do list'. I alter anything that needs changing around and add anything I missed. I try to make sure my list has no more than 5 items of MUST DO tasks. This helps me to prioritize what needs my attention most.

Now, it's time to get some action behind my planning and intentions.

Favorite washing product combo right now!

  • Put in a load of laundry, if needed
  • Make breakfast then clean up the kitchen
  • Followed by getting dressed, brushing hair, and teeth, contacts, etc.
  • Quick wipe the bathroom mirror and counters
  • Switch the load of laundry
  • Straighten up anything that is not in its proper place.
  • Do the cleaning on my 'to do list. (i.e. Mondays is deep cleaning the kitchen)
  • Clean out one drawer or cabinet in the house. (This last part is just a quick, less than 5 minute project that helps me keep up with organizing and decluttering. If I have more time I'll set the timer for 15 minutes and go full force on straightening a closet)
  • Fold and put away the load of laundry

I then get on with my day. Whether it's grocery shopping, running errands, or writing/working. Whatever my 'tasks' I will complete one by one off my to do list.

Everyone's routines are different. You need to have an AM routine that fits you and your family's needs. I hope you found this helpful and it inspires you to make your own AM routine.

Routines help your mind stay clear and free of clutter. When you plan your day and work your plan then you become more productive and that leads to self confidence and less stress.

Remember the goal is to make your home more than a home. Make it a haven; a safe place for your family to fall.

Make the rest of your week a great one. Thank you for your support. You are appreciated!
