Baba's "Mary Poppins" Bag :)
or what's inside my diaper bag?

One of the best things I ever did when becoming a new g-ma, 2 years ago, was to have my own diaper bag. We watch our grandson (I'll call him A) several times a week. (He is one of the biggest blessings in our lives.)
Having my own diaper bag also makes it easier for my daughter. She doesn't need to worry about packing anything for A when we get him. Also, I know that I have everything I need for our adventures out; no matter where we go. What one keeps in their diaper bag is really tailored to the child.

My family calls my diaper bag my 'Mary Poppins bag'. I truly feel I have everything I need. I've added and removed stuff over the years. For example, A is your typical toddler, so bumps and bruises are the norm. I now carry Neosporin spray and band aids. I didn't need that when he was a baby. But like I said each diaper bag is different and this blog post is just for inspiration and ideas.

A few keys to having an organized bag is to start with the following...
  • A bag with lots of pockets
  • Ziploc bags or zipper bags as shown.

In each bag I have the following grouped together....

"Medical" Bag
  • Tylenol
  • Allergy med
  • Dose dropper
  • Topical anti itch gel
  • Oragel
  • Saline spray
  • Neosprion spray
  • Band aids
  • Powdered Pedialyte

"Food Prep" bag
  • Disposable placemats (best thing EVER)
  • Bibs
  • Silverware
  • Extra straws

Snack Bag
  • A sweet snack (such as raisins or fruit snack)
  • A savory snack (like crackers)

"Toy" Bag
  • Small books
  • Puzzles
  • Crayons and a mini coloring book
  • Rattle/ teething ring (for babies of course)

"Outside" bag
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug repellant bracelet/necklace

Separately I have in the main pocket...

  • 5 regular diapers
  • 2 swimmers diapers
  • Wipes
  • Butt paste (I keep this in its own bag in case it leaks)
  • 1-2 extra outfits
  • Medical bag
  • Snack back
  • Toy bag
  • Hairbrush

Front side pocket

  • Outside bag
  • Wet ones (antibacterial wipes)
  • Boogie wipes
  • Small antibacterial gel or spray

Other big side pocket

  • Pacifiers(I keep two in a snack size ziplock bag)
  • Pacifier wipes
  • Food prep bag
  • Extra bottle of water

In 2 "bottle pockets"
  • An extra bottle of apple juice
  • A sippy cup or regular cup

**sidenote** if your baby is formula fed I HIGHLY recommend getting a pack of the already made formula in the 8oz packaging. It is so convenient and you don't have to worry about the formula not being drunk in time. It stays fresh till you open it.

Also, in my trunk I keep, in a reusable grocery bag, a ball cap, a towel, and some sunglasses for A.

I hope you found this blog post helpful. Being organized helps so much in relieving stress and anxiety. And gives you a chance to truly enjoy your time with your little one.

Have a great weekend!
