Cleaning Hacks
(Budget Friendly too)

Christmas is over; now time to get the house ready for 2018!

The main reason why I started the Real Life with Lar blog was to help empower women with knowledge of how to make life a bit easier.  Providing tips and tricks to help make our homes into havens. A safe place for our loved ones to fall when this world is chaotic and crazy.

One thing I love to try are cleaning hacks, especially if the products used are natural and budget friendly. I tried 3 that I've been considering. Now, I want to share these with you, and hope you will find them helpful as well as budget friendly.

**Disclaimer this is my first time using my new camera so please forgive the pictures not being as good as I'd like. I am practicing to become better at it. **

Microwave

In a microwavable bowl (I used a glass measuring cup) squeeze the juice of 2 lemons.
Add cut up lemons and 2-3 cups of water
Place in microwave and cook on high 6 minutes.
Let sit with door closed for another 2 mins.
Remove bowl (Don't discard. Save for a later cleaning hack)
Wipe clean with paper towels or a microfiber cloth.

This was super easy and totally effective. The microwave smelled fresh and looked great! I highly recommend this method!

Garbage Disposal/Sink

Pour the left over lemon and water from cleaning the microwave down the garbage disposal.
Liberally sprinkle baking soda in disposal as well as in sink.
Squeeze an additional lemon (or two) on the sink and down the disposal. It will foam up and that's normal.
Let sit for at least 10 mins. I usually do 15-30 minutes.
Take a damp cloth or sponge and scrub the sink.
Rinse with warm water

After a good scrub, run the tap water as hot as it can go and let it flow down the drain as you run the disposal. The amazing smell of lemon will fill your kitchen!

Dry sink with a microfiber cloth.

Again, another easy hack I would highly recommend!

Fiber Glass Shower

Awesome cleaning combo!

The floor of my shower has been the bane of my existence. I tried EVERYTHING to get this cleaned. Bleach, magic erasers, Ajax, and anything else you can think of I probably tried it.  However, this was the best I have ever tried. At first I was doubtful it would work. I was pleasantly surprised to be  proven wrong. Although not all the stains came up, it was a vast improvement. I believe doing this method consistently will eventually lift all the stains

Here is what I did...

This sponge is a great cleaning tool!

In a sponge with a handle reservoir  (like pictured above) pour Dawn dish washing liquid unil half full. And fill the other half with white vinegar.
In a spray bottle fill 1/3 Dawn and 2/3 vinegar. Shake well.
Spray the Dawn/Vinegar mix liberally in the shower.
Let it sit at least 20 minutes. I left it on 45 minutes.
Then take the handle sponge and scrub well. I scrubbed in circular motion.
Rinse well and admire the results.

Give these hacks a try. I was very impressed with how well they worked and how inexpensive the ingredients were.  Let me know how they work for you.

Until next time, take care of yourselves.
